All the pictures you will see here on our website were taken at our ranch and on the Bradshaw Mountain trails next to the ranch.
Our guided horseback trail rides start at the ranch and venture out into the Bradshaw Mountains. Our trail rides take you through beautiful scenery along Big Bug Creek among rich western history.
The ranch is family owned and operated. Our wranglers have years of experience with good quality horsemanship skills to keep you safe and provide you with a better understanding of your horse before we set out on those beautiful trails.
We'll match you with a mountain horse that best suits your riding ability. We have horses that anyone can ride. You'll be a genuine cowboy or cowgirl before you leave the ranch, confident that you can handle your horse with a smile on your face.
Foothills Ranch is a working ranch. We aren't fancy and are not a tourist trap. We will provide you with a lifetime of core memories and lasting smiles. Through our Wranglers exciting, informative, and engaging history telling, you will leave here with a taste of the old west and a deep yearning to return before the gold dust leaves your boots.

Foothills Ranch is situated on the edge of central and northern Arizona, near Prescott (about 40 miles southeast of Prescott) and near Phoenix (about 70 miles north of Phoenix) and near Sedona (about 60 miles southwest of Sedona).No washboard, long dirt roads or back country mistakes to endure to get here. The ranch is positioned right off the highway, but you'll have no highways to cross on the trails. We are in the beautiful Bradshaw Mountains, with some of the best horseback riding in Arizona.
At Foothills Ranch, we provide experienced wranglers, excellently outfitted horses, history, and a little bit of old west trail magic on our guided trail rides in the beautiful Bradshaw Mountains. Each ride is tailored to different skill levels and durations.

Mayer, Arizona is a small community in Yavapai County, Arizona. Our ranch is enveloped by the breathtaking beauty of this region. The landscape boasts a blend of rugged mountains, rocky creeks, and sprawling valleys, creating an excellent place for horseback riding adventures in Arizona. Mayer’s story is woven from gold, stagecoaches, and rugged Arizona grit. Gold drew prospectors to the Bradshaw Mountains and Big Bug Creek in the 1860s; placer mining grew especially active in the 1880s. In 1882, Joe and Sarah Mayer bought the Big Bug stage station and built a community that served miners and travelers. Potato Patch has its own colorful stories. In the broader Bradshaw Mountains, a high meadow near the Hassayampa was once used to grow potatoes. The famous gold-country “Potato Patch” near Rich Hill is a different place: it was nicknamed for nuggets said to be as large as potatoes.
